Ingredients
  

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar or honey
Toppings
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme
  • Flaky sea salt
  • Optional: sliced olives cherry tomatoes, or garlic

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl combine warm water, sugar, and yeast
  2. Let the yeast activate for a few minutes until foamy
  3. Add flour, salt, and olive oil
  4. Mix until a sticky dough forms
  5. Knead lightly until the dough becomes smooth
  6. Cover the bowl and allow the dough to rise until doubled
  7. Grease a baking pan with olive oil
  8. Transfer the dough into the pan and gently stretch it out
  9. Let the dough rest again briefly
  10. Use your fingers to create deep dimples across the dough
  11. Drizzle olive oil over the top
  12. Sprinkle rosemary and sea salt evenly
  13. Bake until the focaccia becomes golden brown
  14. Allow to cool slightly before slicing
