Ingredients
  

  • 3 small oranges thinly sliced
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 cups water

Method
 

  1. Slice the oranges into even 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  2. Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to simmer.
  3. Add the orange slices in a single layer and reduce the heat to low.
  4. Simmer gently for 45–60 minutes, turning occasionally, until the peels become translucent and tender.
  5. Carefully remove the slices and place them in a single layer on a wire rack.
  6. Let the slices dry uncovered at room temperature for 24–48 hours until tacky and set.
  7. Once dried, enjoy as-is or roll lightly in extra sugar if desired.
