Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb 450 g ground beef – preferably 80/20 for juiciness
  • 1 egg – helps bind the patties
  • ½ cup 50 g breadcrumbs – for structure and texture
  • 2 cloves garlic – minced for flavor
  • ½ small onion ¼ cup – finely chopped
  • 1 tsp paprika – adds mild smoky flavor
  • ½ tsp salt – adjust to taste
  • ½ tsp black pepper – for seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil – for searing patties
For the sauce
  • 1 tbsp butter – for richness
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour – thickens the sauce
  • 1 cup 240 ml milk – base for creamy texture
  • ½ cup 120 ml beef broth – enhances savory depth
  • ½ cup 50 g shredded mozzarella cheese – melts smoothly
  • ½ cup 50 g shredded cheddar cheese – adds sharpness
For topping
  • 1 cup 100 g mozzarella cheese – for gooey topping
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley – chopped for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, onion, paprika, salt, and pepper
  3. Mix gently until just combined without overworking the meat
  4. Shape mixture into evenly sized patties
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat
  6. Sear patties on both sides until lightly browned
  7. Transfer patties into the prepared baking dish
  8. Melt butter in the same skillet and whisk in flour
  9. Gradually add milk and beef broth while whisking
  10. Cook until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth
  11. Stir in mozzarella and cheddar until melted
  12. Pour sauce around the patties in the baking dish
  13. Top patties generously with mozzarella cheese
  14. Bake for 20–25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden
  15. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving
