Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • cups whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 3 ripe bananas mashed
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt plain
  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Add-Ins
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Method

Prepare Oven & Pan:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease your loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
  3. In another bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or masher. Add the Greek yogurt, applesauce, honey or syrup, eggs, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth and blended.
Combine:
  1. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mix and stir gently just until combined. Do not overmix — a few small lumps are fine.
  2. Add Optional Ingredients:
  3. Fold in dark chocolate chips and/or nuts if using.
Bake:
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
Cool:
  1. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a rack to cool completely before slicing.
