Ingredients
  

  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag or 1 teaspoon loose leaf Earl Grey tea
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or plant-based
  • 4 –5 cherries pitted and halved (fresh, frozen, or canned)
  • 1 –2 teaspoons vanilla syrup adjust to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick optional
  • Ice optional for iced version

Method
 

  1. Add cherries and about 1/2 cup of water to a small saucepan
  2. Simmer gently until cherries soften and release juices
  3. Gently mash cherries to help extract flavor
  4. Add cinnamon stick if using and simmer briefly
  5. While cherries cook, bring remaining water to a boil
  6. Steep Earl Grey tea in hot water to preferred strength
  7. Pour milk into the cherry saucepan and heat until warmed through
  8. Stir in vanilla syrup to adjust sweetness
  9. Pour brewed tea into a cup
  10. Strain warm milk and cherry mixture into the cup
  11. Press on cherries to release all juice and stir well
  12. Enjoy hot, or chill then serve over ice for an iced version
