Ingredients
  

  • 3 medium apples about 400 g – peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar – for coating apples
  • ½ tsp cinnamon – adds warmth and flavor
  • 3 large eggs – provides structure and richness
  • ½ cup 100 g granulated sugar – for the custard base
  • 1 cup 240 ml whole milk – creates smooth custard texture
  • ½ cup 120 ml heavy cream – adds richness
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract – enhances flavor
  • ¾ cup 95 g all-purpose flour – gives light cake structure
  • 1 tsp baking powder – helps the cake rise slightly
  • ¼ tsp salt – balances sweetness
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter – melted for extra richness
  • Powdered sugar – for dusting on top

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a round baking pan
  2. Add sliced apples to a skillet with 2 tbsp sugar and cinnamon
  3. Cook over medium heat until apples soften slightly and release juices
  4. Spread the cooked apples evenly in the prepared baking pan
  5. In a bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until slightly pale and smooth
  6. Add milk, cream, vanilla extract, and melted butter, mixing well
  7. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt
  8. Gradually fold dry ingredients into the custard mixture until smooth
  9. Pour the batter evenly over the apples in the pan
  10. Bake for 40–45 minutes until top is golden and center is set
  11. Allow cake to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar
  12. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature
